Web pages load so
much
faster if the videos are blocked. Knowing how
to stop flash videos is
just one
more method to make dial up faster. Luckily there is
a way to deal with unwanted video.
If your
browser is Firefox
there is an
add on you
can
download and install that will block all flashvideo from playing,
but let the remainder of thewebsite
load. Its called Flashblock. Flashblock also
gives you the option of playing the video after a webpage
load. In place of the video, Flashblock will display a large letter
"F". Simply click the "F" if you decide you want to view the flash
video.
You
can also uninstall adobe flash from your computer entirely
which would
prevent flash videos from being played
on all applications. Its easy
enough to reinstall adobe flash later if you need
to.
Its
important to know how to stop flash video content prior to arriving at
a website. No
doubt by now anyone who has surfed the web has came across websites
containing flash video. For dial up users this means waiting while a
video loads, then playing information we may have
never wanted.
Once I visit a website with flash video, my browser will start
downloading it and I cant seem to stop it unless I close my
browser. I'm also unable to determine how
large the flash
video file is. Since I'm on dial up knowing the size of the
video
file is important. If the video is 30 minutes long it'll take
hours to download.
Webmasters
commonly use
adobe
flash software to
create and add videos to their
websites. Right
clicking over the video while it loads will
bring up
a
context menu that doesn't include a way stop the
video from
loading. From my
personal experience
95% of the time I find I
could do without flash
videos while I surf the
Internet.
